Can I just say that I was planning last month to have a very busy semester this go round.... And that definately hasn't changed. It's just going to be busy for different reasons. I got a new job, purely by luck, but I'm so excited for it. My good friend, Anna, who is in my major with me was talking to me yesterday morning and telling me how she is going to be the EP for the Wednesday and Friday shows at BYU. I told her how I was looking for a little something in the newsroom to keep me busy.
Well, she called me like an hour later and told me to get my butt back to the COMMS building. I went and she told me that they didn't have an EP for Monday or Tuesday shows. I told Brother Curtis I was interested and he gave me the job right there. I'M SO EXCITED!!!!
Now most of you are probably wondering what an EP is. The broadcast students at BYU put on a real, live
newscast every day at noon on KBYU. I've done that in semesters past and reported or partailly produced on it. But the EP is the person just under the teacher who is in charge of the newscast: The timing, the order, the presentation, the look. For the first couple of weeks I will be putting together the newscast on my own. After that I will be teaching a new student each week how to do it. I'm kinda nervous because it's a lot of pressure, but I like pressure... I can handle it.
I'll still be working at Brick Oven because the hours of this job are from 7am to 1pm and it's only twice a week so it wouldn't bring in the kind of money I need. For those of you who know me, know I'm not a morning person.... I hope I don't die this semester with the early mornings!
P.S. I start a new diet/exercise program that is kicking my butt.... literally. My hind end is SO SORE! But I have to go to another workout now.... UGH!!!
